CLOSE TO MARS

close to mars started their collaboration in 2002 by collecting and assorting their musical ideas. The result was a mixture of house, world music, lounge, jazz, funk and crossover called urban beats. The spontaneous interaction and the wide musical background of these four excellent musicians seduces them to spice the music with some classical and jazzy elements. The music is not about one soloist but the collective understanding of composition and sounds.

The CD – GET CLOSER was released in september 2008 and shows the exciting variety of Martian sounds.

INJAZTIGATOR

„Return to a Past Future“ is not merely a simple retro project. On their second concept album and as a band of the Here and Now, INJAZTIGATOR seeks a connection with the traces of the space age. What remains of the utopias of the past? Have our dreams turned to sobriety? Which elements of the old TV series fascinated us so much?

This music swings between then and now, it takes us along on a trip into a future long past. It allows us to glide through distant worlds seated in the cockpit of a space vessel. Old dreams arise and let the sounds of the past collide with those of the future. The music shoots full speed ahead through the Milky Way like a rocket. It encounters aliens, plunges into lunar seas and lands on Sirius B. And in the end it races through glistening stroboscopic light into the black holes of infinity.

Band:
Immanuel Brockhaus – keys
Thomas Mäder – sax
Pierangelo Crescenzio – bass
Andreas Schnyder – drums

INJAZTIGATOR

This CD is inspired by texts from authors such as Jack Kerouac, J.D. Salinger, Allen Ginsberg, William S. Burroughs and Charles Bukowski, important figures of the Beat Generation and the America of the 1960’s. The generation of the Happenings and of the Provocation, the generation seeking its own limits of freedom, opens a way between Jazz and lyrical Art, Poetry Slams, Pop and Visual Arts. As a child of the 1960’s Immanuel Brockhaus catapulted these texts into the present. These text fragments contain a peculiar sense of actuality, although 40 or more years have gone by between this moment in the past and the present.

VOICE IT

The quartet “Voice It” combines virtuosity with great entertainment. They combine nostalgia with juvenile freshness, presenting jazz jewels in new clothes: “Softly As In A Morning Sunrise” is presented in a funky version, which forcibly makes the audience feel like dancing. “Summertime” comes with jazzy vocals and subtly grooving rhythms, whereas “Cherokee” lets you drift back to ancient times – even though you might not have lived through them.

Band:
Lisette Spinnler – voc
Roland Köppel – piano, keys
Michael Chylewski – bass
Andreas Schnyder – drums

Special Guest: Dave Feusi – sax
